Spring Glory
I love spring! That first bud, the first blossom, the first bit of green, it’s all a sight for sore eyes after the months of brown and cold. It’s such a joyous and refreshing time of anticipation and refreshment! It’s no wonder that God uses the picture of the blossoming of the crocus in the wilderness to portray His coming in glory. He says in Isaiah 35:1-2 “The desert and the parched land will be glad; the wilderness will rejoice and blossom. Like the crocus, it will burst into bloom; it will rejoice greatly and shout for joy. . . they will see the glory of the Lord, the splendor of our God.” Like a crocus blossoming in the spring, seeing God’s glory at the end of time will be such a sight for sore eyes. It will certainly be an occasion for rejoicing and shouting for joy!
But you don’t need to wait until the end of the World to be refreshed by God’s glory. Remember when Moses asked to see God’s glory, God passed by Him and proclaimed to Him His name. He called Himself, “the Lord, the Lord, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness, maintaining love to thousands, and forgiving wickedness, rebellion and sin.” (Ex. 34:6-7) This is God’s glory! That he would act in this extraordinary way to carry out His perfect plan of salvation, forgiving the world of all sin and thereby showering you with His love. God’s glory is that He called you to faith, strengthens you with His Word, preserves your faith, will bring your faith to completion on the last day, and will take you to be with Him in His mansions above. When you meditate on the greatness of your God, all your other cares will slowly melt away.
So, this spring as you see the buds, the blossoms, and the new life, rejoice and remember the glory of your LORD! Bask in His glory today, and look forward to the full revelation of His glory on that last great day! Praise the LORD!
